Randall Darwall Award
Recipients
Alison Stewart-Guinee
About the Randall Darwall Award
We’re excited to offer the Randall Darwall Fiber Grant, an opportunity created in honor of a beloved ACC show artist, to help fiber artists participate in our marketplace. Craft in America called Randall Darwall (1948–2017) “one of contemporary craft’s finest weavers,” noting that for him, “dyeing and weaving was a way to set up a conversation between colors; when the cloth is worn, it becomes kinetic sculpture.”
For more than 30 years, Randy and his life partner Brian spent countless hours doing shows, and they loved seeing the exciting work and fresh ideas that came from new artists. To honor Randy’s legacy and memory, the Randall Darwall Fiber Grant was born to encourage fiber artists to exhibit in the marketplace by providing a free booth and a stipend to assist with show expenses.
