Susan Hoge
I create work that applies the sensibilities and beadwork techniques of indigenous peoples’ jewellery to fine jewellery materials. I take beadwork into the realm of 'haute' or "high' jewellery, as it is now called, while solving the technical and aesthetic puzzles involved in creating pieces of jewelry that come alive on the body. My work is made with antique steel, aluminum, and glass beads c. 1800 combined with high karat gold and gemstone beads. (I also have earrings in the collection.)
