Rooted in basketry techniques and bricolage my artworks are inspired by where I was born and raised, the Rio Grande Valley of South Texas. My basket pieces are concerned with themes such as tension, joining two spaces, and representing the bi cultural aesthetics of my home, the borderlands. You will see, a basket that’s speckled with barbed wire, a woven arch that connects two objects, a lip dipped in cement. Each basket holds a gesture of the borderlands within its surface and form.
