I've been making fine jewelry for over 30 years now. I learned goldsmithing from a traditional apprenticeship. I wanted my own work to be more unique and creative, and I loved the look of black against gold and diamonds. I spent years searching for the perfect metal, and finally found cobalt chrome, which I was able to oxidize to a deep, matte black. I use it, along with 18 K gold, diamonds and gemstones, to portray science and nature in unique but wearable fine jewelry.
