I've been working in clay for 30+ years. I spent my high school summers working at a pottery workshop in rural New Hampshire in exchange for unlimited studio time. This early experience informs my work -- especially the inspiration of a natural setting. My abstract figurative sculptures blur the line between man and nature. Trees and plants feel so human: Palm trees are giant shaggy men. Oak trees have exuberant arms. To me, this is the best kind of anthropomorphism, full of abundance and joy.
