In-Person and Online Conversations

Future Insights Online Talks
ACC produced Future Insights in December 2021. This series of three free, public talks allowed ACC and other organizations to listen to craft communities and their needs so as to develop and innovate solutions and implement new ideas for support. Watch the recorded conversations.

"Present Tense: 2019" Conference in Philadelphia
ACC hosted a national conversation in Philadelphia in October 2019. The "Present Tense" main stage explored craft’s relevance as a powerful catalyst for navigating and making meaning in an increasingly complex present. Listen to the conference audio.

Media and Publications

Craft Thinking Film Project
In collaboration with artists, filmmakers, and organizations stepping up to meet the COVID-19 pandemic head on, ACC commissioned 10 short video projects—stories of makers who are pursuing these craft-inspired humanitarian efforts across the country. Watch the videos.

American Craft Inquiry
Published by ACC between 2016 and 2018, American Craft Inquiry expanded the Council’s position as a thought leader in the field. In the best tradition of intellectual exchange, the journal featured in-depth essays on contemporary and historical issues, exhibition reviews, and a deep, detailed look at items from our archives. Founded on the principle of collaboration—with writers, curators, scholars, and artists—Inquiry sought to provoke not only reaction, but also action. Read the journal and purchase issues.

Awards Programs

Emerging Voices Awards
Awarded every other year from 2015 to 2019, ACC's Emerging Voices Awards recognized and supported the next generation of makers and thinkers in the field of contemporary craft, decorative arts, and design. The awards recognized one winner among five shortlisted emerging artists and one emerging scholar, critic, or contributor to the field for their body of published or unpublished work across all media. The ACC Emerging Voices Awards were made possible by the generous support of the John & Robyn Horn Foundation. Read more and view recipients.
