Takara, born to West Indian parents and educated in Los Angeles, gained attention in the design world more than 40 years ago with her dramatic and ethnic-inspired jewelry and accessories. Takara has designed for multiple museums and catalog houses such as, Artful Home, Museum of Contemporary Art and Barnes Foundation in Philadelphia. Recently closing her clothing design boutique in Oak Park, due to the pandemic, converted her Chicago studio to a showroom, which she takes appointments.
