Herb Williams' Crayola Craft

Herb Williams' Crayola Craft

I needed a little shot of color today, and I'm glad, because I came across Herb Williams. Williams is a Nashville-based artist that works with crayons. He creates sculptures, and goes through a lot of crayons (so many, in fact, that he has a personal account with Crayola). I love the colors in his work, and the way the crayons create a uniform look, yet the surface is still textured. These sculptures are the kind of art that just begs to be touched.

Make sure to check out his installation in Lubbock, Texas, of giant flames (made of crayons, of course). They're exposed to the elements and melt and change in the Texas heat. The installation aims to make the public aware of the causes of wildfires.

Can't get enough craft? Neither can we. Heck Yes Craft is a series of visual blog posts with a simple mission: to show off amazing work. Come back on Fridays for more.
