We're taking on the theme of "Gather" for our Fall issue. To gather is to come together, assemble, or collect. Gathering also creates soft folds in fabric by drawing it in with thread. This issue looks at collections and throughlines—how craftspeople find and put together the disparate and contrasting elements of their work, how craft across cultures draws people together around the table, and what’s next for craft collectors. It features winners of the ACC Awards and includes special coverage of craft collections, food, and ceramics.
- More than 30 pages devoted to the accomplished contemporary craft artists, philanthropists, and scholars honored as 2022 ACC Fellows.
- A thought-provoking essay on the future of collecting by the director of the James Renwick Alliance.
- Explorations of places that bring artists together, including Black maker spaces and events—some involving craft and food—and multi-day kiln firings.
- Ceramic, glass, and metal craft that celebrates the art of the fold—and artists who’ve assembled what they’ve gathered into innovative works.
