Jimmy McBride's Interstellar Quilts

Jimmy McBride's art quilts are really out of this world. Made from salvaged textiles (collected while working for a salt and vinegar shipping company called Intergalactic Transport), the quilts are hand-stitched and hand-quilted. As McBride puts it: "There's no log cabins or poinsettias around, so I just stare out the window until something catches my eye."

The Timeline Keeps Growing

We rolled out our first batch of timeline updates this week and also added a search feature to the timeline, so you can find your favorite events more quickly. There's a search box on the timeline home page, and links to the search at the bottom of each timeline. Of course, searching is not without its own troubles. Make sure to report any errors or glitches to timeline@craftcouncil.org. We want to make this timeline the best resource we can.

The Glitter Knitter's Mission: Inspire

I learned to knit at a fabulous yarn shop nestled in Twin Cities suburb Rosemount - The Yarn Garage. Who can resist taking a class from someone nicknamed the Glitter Knitter? That's owner Steven Berg, who has since opened a second store near downtown Minneapolis. I haven't picked up knitting needles in a few years, but I decided to check out the new location, named Steven Be.

The Glitter Knitter didn't disappoint.
