The ACC Needs Your Ideas

Are you a craft artist? Or somebody who cares about craft?

If so, we need to hear from you this week. The American Craft Council has embarked on a big campaign to determine how we can be most useful to creative people like you. We want to know what you like to read, what skills and support you need most, and how the ACC can make a real difference to you.

Will you take just 15 minutes for a simple, anonymous survey? We need to hear from you by Sunday, June 5.

Weigh In: What Should the ACC Do Next?

Since mid-January I have traveled extensively throughout the country and held listening sessions with ACC members and others in the craft field. As part of this initiative, I hosted 17 listening sessions in eight cities, hearing from more than 500 people. In addition, I read dozens of thoughtful letters and emails from folks who were not able to attend the meetings but wanted to be heard. First and foremost, I want to thank those who took the time to come to a listening session or otherwise communicate their concerns and suggestions to me.

"The Things We Make, Make Us"

"The things that make us Americans are the things we make. This has always been a nation of builders. Of Craftsmen. Men and women for whom straight stitches and clean welds were matters of pride...As a people we do well when we make good things and not so well when we don't. This was once a country where we made things. Beautiful things. And so it is again."
