This week we’re all off to Baltimore, where the flagship ACC show opens to the public on Friday morning. Every year I look forward to meeting new artists and designers, and, even more so, to seeing – in person – what my favorite makers have been up to since last year.

One of those people: Lisa Crowder. The East Austin-based studio jeweler works primarily with sterling silver, incorporating other materials including gold, enamel, and thread. And if you asked me which style of her work I prefer – the silver/gold designs, both refined and tough, or the eye-catching enamel work, with those brilliant hits of robin’s-egg blue, red, and white – you would get a long silence in return. Because I honestly cannot choose. It is all awesome.

Crowder has been doing the Baltimore show since 2004. Lately, she says, she's been working on enamel and metal pieces that are more geometric, a departure from her more organic, rounded forms. Take a peek at one of her new rings, above. She'll be in booth 222 this weekend.

And come back here on Saturday, when we’ll post a video interview with Crowder, straight from the Baltimore show floor.
