The April 2013 edition of The Crafts Report features a list of nine people to watch in the field of craft for the current year and beyond. Included on the list of talented artists, innovators, and industry leaders is the American Craft Council’s own director of education, Perry Price.
The Crafts Report selects individuals as “people to watch” based upon their dedication to contemporary crafts and their potential to shape the state of craft in society to a high degree in the near future. With his commitment to introducing new educational programming at the ACC, efforts to help both seasoned and aspiring craft practitioners, and drive to spread awareness of the organization to the greater public, Price’s inclusion on The Crafts Report list is well earned.
“It was a surprise and a real honor to be named among such a diverse and dedicated group of professionals,” says Price. “I look forward to seeing the wonderful work produced in the future by my fellow honorees, and I hope that my inclusion on the list will promote the engaging and innovative educational programming we have planned for the American Craft Council.”
From new initiatives at the ACC Shows to advice for art students preparing for a career at Making Meaning in the Marketplace symposia, educational programming at the ACC is helping professional artists and expanding the public’s knowledge of contemporary craft in the United States.
“Expansion of ACC’s education programming follows reinvigoration of ACC’s craft show format, revitalization of American Craft magazine, and the enhanced recognition of the exemplary artists in the craft field. Educating and engaging the public about this amazing work and the people in this community is at the core of ACC’s mission,” says Chris Amundsen, executive director. “Perry’s knowledge and leadership will be important to the growth of the craft field. We are pleased that Perry is playing such a vital role within ACC and the craft community and that his work has been so generously recognized by The Crafts Report.”
