The American Craft Council is seeking an interactive media specialist to manage our online presence. He or she is responsible for building the organization's audience via social media and ongoing content management of the website in alignment with our brand.
The ACC has three main programs: a national craft show circuit, magazine and educational initiatives including access to a world-class, on-site library. The interactive media specialist will report to the Director of Marketing, but will also support the American Craft magazine's staff (editorial and advertising) to produce and manage ongoing content that advances the goals of the entire organization including development and membership.
The specialist's duties also include:
• Executing on our website (www.craftcouncil.org) and social media strategy for americancraftmag.org, facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter and various craft blogs
• Perpetually creating, refreshing and posting content on our website and using our social media platforms (see above) on a day-to-day basis to raise the profile of the ACC and its assets to retain and attract new members
• Proactively researching craft/design related websites and social media platforms (i.e. shows, magazines, organizations, associations, etc.) to build our awareness of trends, best practices and help discover ways to differentiate ourselves in the marketplace
• Update and maintain in-house media lists and databases (e.g. artists, wholesale buyers and educational institution contacts)
• Continually educating ACC staff about new digital and interactive opportunities
The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:
• 5 + years of interactive media experience
• Proven writing, editing and story telling skills, adaptable to a range of media
• A comprehensive understanding of web development, HTML and SEO
• Expertise in uploading digital ads to our website and monitoring the monthly ad campaign timeline
• Experience in brand building and brand management with an eye for visual aesthetics
• An exceptional online portfolio showcasing innovative web & social media design concepts
• Passion for and experience with blogs and social media
• Ability to collaborate with a range of colleagues and to act on strategic organizational goals
• Enthusiasm for and experience with craft
