As fiber and textile aficionados settle in the Twin Cities this weekend for the Surface Design Association's biennial conference, we invite you to stop in and check out the new exhibit in our office: Focus on Fibers.

Curated by Erica Spitzer Rasmussen (see "Intimate Apparel" from our April/May issue), the traveling exhibit celebrates diversity in form and content. Erica worked with the Textile Center to select artists and assemble a showcase of our expansive textile community - from traditional to experimental work. Case in point: You'll see everything from woven wall pieces to dresses made from onion bags and duct tape.

"Textiles in the 21st century is an exciting field," Erica says. "I always tell my students to 'respect tradition and aspire to innovation.' This show does just that."

Also, if you happen to be attending the SDA fashion show Saturday night, stick around afterward. We're hosting a joint birthday celebration (with the help of Seasons on St. Croix Gallery) to toast the SDA's 35th year and our 70th with cupcakes by Ly Lo of Sweets Bakeshop.
