Thursday marks the opening of glass artist Beth Lipman's latest solo exhibition, "Precarious Possessions," at Claire Oliver gallery in New York. The show, which runs through March 9, features three new elaborate sculptural works a year in the making: Pitcher with Vines, Flotsam and Jetsam, and Sideboard with Blue China.

Saturday brings the grand opening of St. Petersburg Hot Glass Workshop, a new self-sustaining, fully equipped, 2,400-square-foot studio in St. Petersburg, Florida, founded by glass artist Duncan McClellan. Special guest at the opening will be glass pioneer and founding member of the Glass Art Society Fritz Dreisbach. The studio is McClellan's newest venture, along with the Duncan McClellan Gallery and DMG School Project, a non-profit program that provides outreach to area public and private schools through on-site demonstrations and hands-on experiences at all grade levels.

This weekend the ACC will make an appearance in sculptor Alonso Sierralta's Minnesota Original episode, set to air in the Twin Cities at 6 and 10 p.m. on Channel 2 on January 20. It'll also be available on the MN Original website for those not in the area.
