The color blue can express the exhilaration of a blue-sky day, or despair, as in singing the blues. Turquoise, lapis lazuli, indigo, and cobalt have been used for ages in glass, enamel, ceramic glaze, and adornment. This exhibition celebrates these natural materials in objects from Mingei’s permanent collection, and features a broad variety of media from many different cultures.
