Joyce Scott, a visual and performing artist for more than 40 years will discuss her work and career with Sonya Clark, Professor and Chair of the Craft/Material Studies Department at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, VA. Scott’s work explores themes of beauty and consequence: how beauty can obscure the negativity it hides. Much of her work is politically or socially oriented, addressing human weaknesses and how seemingly unable we are to overcome them. She unflinchingly explores themes of Racism, Sexual Objectification and Abuse. Joyce Scott is a member of the American Craft Council College of Fellows.
