Sandy Voss designs abstract, organic patterns, suggesting waves and winding paths; occasionally her designs are representational or figurative. Her colors hit the richest notes in a natural spectrum. Inspired by the red cliffs and dramatic landscapes that surround her property in Abiquiu, New Mexico (home to the Georgia O’Keeffe estate), Voss is particularly drawn to rich, earthy reds. Voss works with contemporary materials, including fabric, textiles, vintage neckties, and high-end loom factory waste such as Pendleton selvage strips. When she works with ties, she weaves them in a signature style, with the triangular ends exposed at the edges of the rug in an organic, leaf-like design.
