Book design, bookbinding and illustration were art practices of many Pre-Raphaelite artists better known for other kinds of work. On view are books of poetry by Dante Gabriel Rossetti and William Morris, wood-engraved illustrations, and illustrated books from Morris's Kelmscott Press, which he founded in 1891. This exhibition, which complements the National Gallery of Art’s major survey on the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood, also includes some of Morris's elaborate ornament designs and his medieval-inspired manuscript illumination.
