Perceiving the Invisible

Artist Bohyun Yoon, an assistant professor at Virginia Commonwealth University, investigates the limits of human perception and how an individual sees the world, especially in relation to nature and technological advancement.

In "Glass Tube," his newest project, now in the collection of the Smithsonian American Art Museum, Yoon explores how the senses can work together to understand what initially is unseen. His presentation will include examples of some of his glass tubes and will address how a cross-disciplinary approach fusing craft, music, and physics allowed him to conceive the project.
