Conferences
The Council has a long and illustrious history of holding national conferences. Beginning with “Craftsmen Today” held in 1957 in Asilomar, CA, to “Creating a New Craft Culture,” held in 2009 in Minneapolis, MN, our conferences serve a wide spectrum of audiences and offer a platform for ongoing dialogue on the current state of craft—inside and out—and beyond the field of craft.
If you’d like to learn more, you can order the conference transcript and publication from “Creating a New Craft Culture” from our bookstore or listen to conference podcasts. Information and publications from other ACC national conferences can be found in our library.
Convenings
During the 2009 ACC conference “Creating a New Craft Culture” in Minneapolis, MN, the Council began hosting Convenings—curated, peer-to-peer conversations affording key stakeholders in the field of craft a chance to articulate the issues, challenges, and concerns they face in the field today. These conversations continue to take place around the country and in partnership with other cultural institutions.
